Inspired by the fields of lavender in the Hood River Valley during my painting trip, Mt. Hood Lavender is a miniature watercolor painting. It will be in the February small works show at the Red Chair Gallery. The requirements for the miniature paintings for this particular show were that the size was to be no larger than 10″ x 12″ framed. Painting small paintings like this one is one of my favorite things to do. Do you like to paint large or small or both?

Gorgeous colors, Jacqueline! These days I mostly paint small and in a journal. On the radar for change though. I miss bigger works.

I agree with Laure, gorgeous color. I'm usually in between with paintings but plan on doing some very small paintings in the near future.

After today's class I am wondering: any sponges used? wet on wet? washes? glazing, texture techniques? It looks to me like a paint brush was used, but you know how much more I have to learn!!! 🙂

Pj you are FABULOUS! I don't think I used a sponge but negative shapes, wet-on wet, lots of glazing and brush strokes. And white Gouache!
