More Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Watercolor Artists

I just adore this tiny watercolor palette!  It is called the Pocket Palette.  It comes with 14 iddy biddy magnetic pans to hold the paint that can be removed and replaced with other colors.  It is about the size of a business card (3 5/8″ x 2 1/2″) but holds lots of paint!

Here it is waiting to be filled with new fresh watercolor paints.

I used it to paint this colorful background in my Gratitude Journal.  The mixing area was so wonderful – the paints did not bead up like they do on some palettes.  I was thinking what a wonderful gift this would be for the traveling artist!

What’s Inside?

What’s Inside?

In a couple weeks I will be painting in Italy.  My last post was about my new cool JetPens.com pencil bag.

It is a perfect size for holding just about everything I need to do some paintings-on-the-go in my watercolor travel journal.  Now I want to show you what I put inside it.  I have three miniature palettes and a set of travel brushes that are great for traveling.  I like these mini palettes because they each hold 12 colors and have removable 1/2 pans.  That means that I can put whatever colors I desire in on my palette.  If I find I no longer and using a certain color, then I can easily switch it out for another color.

The brushes are from Jackson’s Art Supplies.  It is hard to find good travel brushes and this is a great set!  If you just order brushes you will get free shipping.

Watercolor Travel Kit or Beginners Kit

Watercolor Travel Kit or Beginners Kit

I put together a watercolor travel kit in collaboration with Daniel Smith Art Supplies.  It is called the Daniel Smith Extra Fine Jacqueline Newbold Watercolor Travel Kit.  It would also serve as a great kit for beginning watercolor artists.  It is also a great checklist for those of you who have your own supplies and want to see what is needed for painting-on-the-go!
Included in the kit are 12 tubes of Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors.  I picked each one out because they match a color on the color wheel.

You will also get a very nice spiral bound Arches Watercolor Travel Journal with 140 lb watercolor paper in it and my favorite travel palette!  You will get 2 brushes, a kneaded eraser and a zippered case to carry your brushes and extra things.  All you will need to complete this travel kit would be a pencil and water.  If you bought everything separately, it would cost you $63 more.
This kit is the what I used while doing the demonstrations on my DVD:  Art Journals: On-the-Go!
